SPRING SELECTS U13

COMPETITIVE PATHWAY: PLAYERS BORN 2011

Westcastle International Academy is excited to offer a specialized spring development program designed to introduce U13 players (born in 2011) to the WIA style of play in preparation to enter the Canada Soccer Competitive Pathway (Tier 2) U14 team in Fall 2024.

The Spring Selects U13 initiative is an integral part of this pathway, targeting dedicated young athletes, both girls and boys, who are ready to take their skills to the next level.

This program is open to players who have participated in the LISA Development League on a Gold team only.

Training options available

Full Program (Mon/Wed/Sat): $600
2 sessions/week (Mon/Wed) or (Wed/Sat): $400
1 session/week (Monday or Saturday): $200

The Selects Program

The 3 times a week training sessions follow the Canada Soccer Skill Centre model. The Skill Centre was designed to guide clubs towards the best principles in player development, by taking a nationally coordinated approach to developing young soccer players. The Selects program follows the guidelines and standards as outlined in the Canada Soccer Association Skill Centre manual.

TECHNICAL TRAINING FOCUS:

With the understanding of age-appropriate levels of intensity and workload, technical training will focus on

  • passing and receiving
  • dribbling
  • ball control
  • turning
  • running with the ball
  • shielding the ball
  • shooting
  • finishing on goal

TACTICAL TRAINING FOCUS:

With the understanding of age-appropriate levels of intensity and workload, tactical training will focus on:

  • possession with a purpose
  • combination plays
  • 1v1 attacking
  • receiving on turn
  • crossing and finishing
  • positional play
  • finishing on goal
  • movement off the ball
  • 1v1 defending
