PLAYER DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

WIA is in the process of achieving the National Youth Club Licence and aims to start playing in the BC Soccer Premier League in September 2025 at U14 age groups.

WIA’s long-term strategic objective is to produce a consistent stream of talented players who can go on to achieve success in the game at higher levels of competition.  This player-focused program is specially designed to develop players for success at the highest level of youth competition in Canada.

The program will have training scheduled 3-4 times weekly during the season. These sessions are designed to elevate our teams’ capabilities, ensuring they are well-equipped to compete at the highest level of soccer in Canada.

THE BCSPL PROGRAM

The BC Soccer Premier League was created in partnership with Canada Soccer, the Vancouver Whitecaps FC, the BCSPL Founding Club Franchises, and the BC Soccer membership. The purpose of the program is to provide top players with a high-standard environment that supports the development of Under 14 through Under 17 male and female programming. The BCSPL has a spring/summer season that starts late in February ending in the Provincial Premier Cup which takes place in late June. There is also a fall season that runs from September – November and is a round-robin League Cup competition.  The BCSPL has numerous clubs involved which develop their teams and compete against each other all with the focus on high-quality player, coach, and referee performance.

2024 PRE-PDP (BCSPL) PROGRAM

The Pre-PDP U13 teams are a required component of WIA’s BCSPL Implementation Plan, the final step towards achieving the Canada Soccer National Youth Club License.

WIA is excited to launch the new U13 Pre-BCSPL boys and girls teams competing in the LISA Development League, in Fall 2024. The teams will be coached by our Canada Soccer Youth and A-licensed coaches. The teams formed will play 8v8 or 9V9 following the BC Soccer Small Side Game Manual.

Training sessions will be 3 times per week to mirror the BCSPL standards and focus on the four areas of development: Technical, Tactical, Physical and Psychosocial.
