Considered an integral part of the Canada Soccer Player Pathway (LTPD Stage 4), the Player Development Program (PDP) is defined by our National Association as the highest level of youth competition in Canada. Available only to National Youth Club Licence holders, it is the “best-on-best” Canada Soccer-aligned competition in our province starting at U14.

WIA is working to achieve the National Youth Club Licence in 2024 and to start playing in the BC Soccer Premier League in September 2025 at U14.

The BC Soccer Premier League was created in partnership with Canada Soccer, the Vancouver Whitecaps FC, the BCSPL Founding Club Franchises, and the BC Soccer membership. The purpose of the program is to provide top players with a high-standard environment that supports the development of Under 14 through Under 17 male and female programming. The BCSPL has a spring/summer season that starts late in February ending in the Provincial Premier Cup which takes place in late June. There is also a fall season that runs from September – November and is a round-robin League Cup competition.  The BCSPL has numerous clubs involved which develop their teams and compete against each other all with the focus on high-quality player, coach, and referee performance.

The Pre-BCSPL U13 teams are a required component of WIA’s BCSPL Implementation Plan, the final step towards achieving the Canada Soccer National Youth Club License.

WIA is excited to launch the new U13 Pre-BCSPL boys and girls teams that will compete in the LISA Development League in Fall 2024. The teams will be coached by our Canada Soccer Youth and A Licensed coaches. The teams formed will play 8v8 or 9V9 following the BC Soccer Small Side Game Manual.

Training sessions will be 3 times per week to mirror the BCSPL standards and focus on the four areas of development: Technical, Tactical, Physical and Psychosocial.
