The Pre-PDP U13 program is dedicated to developing the essential physical, mental, technical, and tactical skills needed for higher levels of competition. Players will focus on advanced individual and team skill development in a high-performance environment. Training sessions will adhere to PDP standards.

WIA teams are be coached by highly qualified Canada Soccer A-License, Youth License, and C-License coaches.

    • Program Schedule: August 2024 to June 2025

      Training Block 1: August – December 13, 2024
      Training Block 2: January 6 – March 14, 2025
      Training Block 3: April 7 – June 20, 2025

      • 2 Technical and Tactical Training sessions per week
        • 60-75 mins training sessions
        • Locations: CML TURF/ UVIC

      • 10-week Strength and Conditioning Program
        • Training Day: Monday
      • Optional session per week – Whitecaps: Vancouver Island Prospects Academy
        • 3 blocks of 8 sessions on Sundays
          • October 20 – December 8
          • January 12 – March 9 (No session Feb 16)
          • Sunday. April 6 – June 8 (no sessions April 20 / May 18)
      • 1x League game per week

Physical Development: Primary development of aerobic power, acyclic speed and explosive strength.

Technical: Focus on speed of passing and receiving technique, ball controlling in small space, perception and quick execution of passing, overall ball control, receiving to turn at speed and finishing.

Psychosocial: Commitment to the team, increased concentration and self-control.

Tactical: Application of attacking and defending principles in SSG.

Social/Emotional: Cooperation, Communication, Respect and Discipline.

  1. Making passes, receiving to turn and finishing at speed under pressure
  2. Playing short passes at speed in small spaces.
  3. Coordination of tactical principles with teammates.
  4. Coordinate the counterattack and pressing in SSG.
  5. Show good fitness in mid/high demanding aerobic power practices.
  6. Showing good technique under pressure in fatigue.
