WIA NEXT – Pathway to College
The WIA Next – Pathway to College program is designed to support ambitious young soccer players in their journey toward collegiate soccer, in partnership with the Vancouver Whitecaps’ Caps to College program. This initiative focuses on holistic player development, scholarship planning, and providing exposure to college coaches.
Participants in the program benefit from:
- Three weekly WIA Next training sessions
- One weekly Caps to College session led by Whitecaps staff
- One weekly IDP session
- 8 Speed Mechanics Sessions
These sessions are delivered in an energetic, inspiring environment tailored to help selected players prepare for the demands of collegiate soccer. The program also includes an educational component designed to support players in securing scholarships and navigating the transition to college life.
The Caps to College curriculum emphasizes:
Development of advanced individual technical skills and tactical understanding
Physical preparation for the college game
Match play and showcase events for exposure to college coaches
Educational workshops on recruitment and college readiness
Creation of player profiles, CVs, and highlight videos
Training follows the Whitecaps Way, a nationally recognized player development curriculum that emphasizes excellence, character, and a clear pathway to the next level.
The Caps to College program focuses on the following components:
- Developing advanced individual technical habits and tactical principles
- Physical Preparation
- Match play and showcase events
- Educational Workshops
- Creating player profiles, CVs and recruitment videos
Our training and coaching methodology is based on the Whitecaps Way, a national curriculum for player development.
Sept 2025 – June 2026
- Program Tuition: This program is funded through private sponsorship and student tuition – $4,500 plus GST.
- Full Program: 3x WIA sessions/week, plus 1x session/week Caps to College, 1x IDP session/week, plus 8 Speed Mechanics sessions )
- Competition: Players will compete in the Westcoast League or VISL/PCSL (this program is open to all players but level of competition is determined by the Managing Director)
- Fees Exclude: All housing expenses for out of town players in Victoria, Caps to College Showcase training kit, any showcase tournaments travel/hotel/ food and any personal expenses.
