Girls Under 11/12 Selects
The Technical Training Centre offers players several specialized development programs for players seeking a high-performance pathway.
The Selects program is a partially funded program for 24-36 committed girls who are currently playing at the Gold level (Gold U11 and Gold U12).
This once-per-week supplementary training is provided at no charge to the players. Players will be responsible for purchasing their training kit (one time fee – $100) and any other fees associated with travel to games/ tournaments.
Registration is open to any U11 Blue or U12 Blue player in the Lower Island Soccer Association and doesn’t require a recommendation.
TECHNICAL TRAINING FOCUS:
With the understanding of age-appropriate levels of intensity and workload, technical training will focus on
- passing and receiving
- dribbling
- ball control
- turning
- running with the ball
- shielding the ball
- shooting
- finishing on goal
TACTICAL TRAINING FOCUS:
With the understanding of age-appropriate levels of intensity and workload, tactical training will focus on:
- possession with a purpose
- combination plays
- 1v1 attacking
- receiving on turn
- crossing and finishing
- positional play
- finishing on goal
- movement off the ball
- 1v1 defending
Program runs January 20th – March 17, 2022
Fridays 5:30-6:45 pm at UVic.

The Program
The once-a-week training sessions follow the Canada Soccer Skill Centre model. The Skill Centre was designed to guide clubs towards the best principles in player development, by taking a nationally coordinated approach to developing young soccer players. The Selects program follows the guidelines and standards as outlined in the Canada Soccer Association Skill Centre manual.
